ISM has the reputation of being a small, tight-knit community of passionate and caring individuals, and while the school has an administrative office of its own, the student council has the responsibility of speaking and representing the vision of the students. STUCO is run by students with several leadership duties, counting with a President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer. This year we witnessed very exciting elections full of promising speeches and rivalries. As we are a small community, the two candidates, and even three candidate races, gave us more voting choices than usually expected. The students running proposed several ideas and changes they wished to see in the school. After a suspenseful vote count, principal Amy announced that there was a close turnout and the position results are as follows:
STUCO
President - Nicole Rivas, 11th Grade
Vice-President - Sofia Moreno, 11th Grade
Secretary - Fabiana Mendoza, 11th Grade
Treasurer - Michelle Davi, 12th Grade
J-STUCO
President - Santiago Pino
Vice-President - Mia Miramare
Secretary - Elias Hanna
Treasure - Ruben Wu
Among the promised events and plans from the STUCO members, stood an after school lock-in, themed bake sales, a winter dance and regular ice-cream fridays. Because ISM finds itself becoming a smaller community through the years, the student council bears increasing roles of responsibility. It promises to continue reinforcing the school´s values, traditions, and principles, and working to ensure the school year is as memorable as possible.
